Planning our Manila Ocean Park Adventure
Being so busy as we are with our own personal lives, completing the whole family and doing something fun together tends to be difficult. And so, I took this challenging but fun task of coming up with an activity for us for my birthday treat.
I actually enjoy planning simple stuff like these by researching on things to do, creating itinerary and computing stuff to compare the best options for our trip. I like organizing but yes, I have to accept the reality that my plan cannot be always followed and I need to welcome spontaneity.
I guess one could say that I am a frustrated organizer that's why I like to allot a whole blog post on my planning alone.
My initial action was to go to Metrodeal to look for something we could do. I love browsing through their offers though I seldom buy anything from them haha!
At first, I was just looking for buffet deals until my eyes landed on the Manila Ocean Park deals. There was a lot to choose from and it appears, MOP (acronym for Manila Ocean Park) is sort of a regular in Metrodeal. But it showed up on the buffet deals and made me think that maybe, we could do more than experience their buffet there.
Manila Ocean Park is located behind Quirino Grandstand, Luneta Mark which is very near our place. I have never been to this place though I often see their H2O Hotel during my dragon boat training and I have heard they also have a dragon boat team.
At that time that I was checking their deals, the one I spotted that I wanted to purchase was their 8-in-1 attractions with eat-all-you-can buffet for P899 instead of P2600. I told my family about this plan and I was glad to hear they were very much game to go for it. I was a bit worried that we would be too old for this experience, considering that our whole day would mostly be spent there.
As the typical me, I decided to look into these attractions and then compare them to the usual rates.
As I was navigating through the Manila Ocean Park website, I also spotted their birthday deal promo. It states there that a birthday celebrant (as I have been taught in my UPCAT review, proper grammatical term is actually "celebrator") gets free entrance if with 2 paying companions.
Considering that there were 2 of us celebrating for that month (my sister and I have the same birthday), I just had to compare the deal I have found in Metrodeal and if considering this birthday promo.

Comparison of the two promos
I created a table to consider the attractions included in the promos. I actually added one more option with 10 attractions just for the sake of comparing what if we go for less attractions.
In the end, we opted to go for the Birthday promo option with the 12 attractions + gift item package. The following factors were considered:
- I initially computed for 9 pax.
- We wanted to maximize our visit in Manila Ocean Park.
- The total amount of our chosen option is close to the Metrodeal value
- Yexel Museum was heavily considered but we decided that those who do want to go there may just consider paying the entrance fee once there.
Planned Itinerary
My mom advised me to come up with an itinerary for us since we wanted to maximize all the attractions and get to watch all the scheduled shows.
In order to do this, I had to look at where the attractions and shows are located at the guide map so I could properly plan how to go about with our day. It took me a long time doing it but it was fine to do.
